Across East Africa, access to critical surgical care remains limited, out of reach for many families. Resurge Children East Africa addresses this inequality by building sustainable surgical training programmes and expanding access to essential medical supplies. Through long-term partnerships, this work ensures care continues to reach more children with lasting impact.
SURGICAL TRAINING
Across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, many children have limited access to critical colorectal and cardiac surgery. Resurge Children East Africa provides these surgeries to children from low-income families, while delivering hands-on training and mentorship through dedicated medical volunteers, alongside surgical scholarships for paediatric surgeons, anaesthetists, and nurses.
By building sustainable surgical capacity and working closely with local hospitals, every mission leaves a lasting impact, equipping medical teams to continue delivering safe, high-quality care long after the programme ends.
SURGICAL FUND
While our surgical missions provide free care, many children uninsured, underinsured, or from low-income families, still need treatment throughout the year at our established surgical centres. Our Surgical Fund helps these children access safe, high-quality colorectal and cardiac surgery, giving them the treatment they urgently need.
MEDICAL SUPPLIES
Stoma supplies are essential for children recovering from colorectal surgery, yet they are expensive and often unaffordable for many families in East Africa. Without these supplies, post-surgical care can be difficult, putting children at risk of complications. Our Medical Supplies programme provides stoma bags and essential equipment to hospitals and directly to families, ensuring every child receives the care they need after surgery.
